Nota Bene Cellars Red Blend: Ciel Du Cheval Vineyard Red Mountain
I am thoroughly enjoying the 2014 Nota Bene Cellars Red Blend from the Ciel Du Cheval Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA in Washington State! An enticing blend of 39% Cabernet Franc, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 29% Merlot all grown on the Ciel Du Cheval Vineyard. Aged 22 months in export style French oak barrels truly brings out complexities and flavor nuances rarely experienced together in one wine.
In my glass, violet in color and very dense. Exquisite aromas of dark berry, plum, blueberry, vanilla, and spice. Full bodied across the palate with a rich, velvety texture and a bit of heat with the 14.67% alcohol level. Bold flavors of blackberry, ripe plum, cocoa, earth, vanilla, and bakers spices wake up my taste buds. Seductively layered with interwoven flavors that open up with every twist and turn! The next sip brought more rich dark berry flavors with notes of blueberry, caramel, cinnamon, and a hint of chili pepper leading to a long and refined vanilla oak finish. Very sexy and balanced between rich dark fruit, tannin, and spicy heat! Experience this Nota Bene Red Blend with beef roast, smoky BBQ meat or veges, Roasted Lamb or Lamb Gyros, pasta with a tomato sauce, grilled vegetables, and medium to sharp cheeses. 94 Points! (Wine Splash).
