Brick and Mortar Syrah West Block Vineyard Sonoma Coast
There always seems to be rumors in the air with just about everything and it is your decision to believe whether the rumor is true for you or not. Lately, I have been hearing rumors that Brick and Mortar Wines have been getting increasingly better over the years and I should find a few bottles and taste them myself. (Twist my arm, right?). Brick and Mortar is a wine company out of California who uses the best grapes they can find from the Napa Valley, Sonoma, and Mendocino AVA’s and then add some love and finally get that wine to you! They mostly produce Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay wines from vineyards like Cougar Rock Vineyard in Napa (for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir), West Block Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast (for Syrah), and Manchester Ridge Vineyard in Mendocino County (for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir), plus a few other vineyards in these areas. Last night I experienced the 2017 Brick and Mortar Syrah from the West Block Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast region. Lets discover if the rumors of great wines is true!
In my glass, beautifully garnet-purple in color and very dense. Seductive aromas of blackberry, black cherry, earth, graphite, and smoky herbs on the nose. Full bodied, lush, with refined tannins and spices detected across the palate. Fruit forward with generous blackberry, ripe plum, boysenberry, mocha, tobacco, and black pepper. A bold and sophisticated Syrah that is expertly balanced between sweet dark fruit and spicy finesse! The following sip brought forward all the rich dark berry flavors and then unveiled notes of blueberry, vanilla, and smoke leading to a graceful pepper oak finish. Wonderfully velvety across the palate with elegant spicy tannins to complete the tasting experience. Pair this Brick and Mortar Syrah with red meat dishes, grilled steaks, barbecue ribs, Roast Leg of Lamb, spicy tomato sauce dishes, Portobello Mushroom Burger, grilled vegetables, or aged hard cheeses like Gouda. An excellent food wine or enjoy on its own wine. 94 Points! (Wine Splash). So the rumors of great wines from Brick and Mortar Wines is true and I hope you get to experience some of these superb wines yourself. Cheers!
