Wine Splash!

You can definitely say that this is a Chardonnay with “personality”…and the personality associated with it is tv celebrity Kevin O’Leary or “Mr Wonderful” of Shark Tank fame! I have very high expectations for this Kevin O’Leary Fine Wines Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2017 because if Mr Wonderful has put his name on it, it must be amazing! These grapes were grown in a climate that Chardonnay love best…very hot days when the grapes are evolving and cool, foggy nights when the grapes can rest. Once harvested, the juice spent 12 months sur lie, aging in French oak barrels. Sur Lie is the technique of aging the juice along with the yeast and other particles that came from the harvest. The result is usually a wine that is creamier in texture with nutty, yeasty, or bread flavors. This is 100% Chardonnay all from the Russian River in Sonoma County, California.

In my glass, straw in color with golden hues on the rim. Elegant aromas of white peach, tropical citrus, lemon meringue, oak, and exotic spices. Full bodied across the palate, velvety, with good acidity. Bountiful flavors of fresh tropical citrus fruits, pineapple, starfruit, Bartlett pear, and baking spices. A ripe fruit explosion that kept my taste buds dancing for more! Experiencing more tropical fruit on my second sip with notes of stone fruit, apple butter, and lovely creme brulee leading to a refined vanilla oak finish. Beautifully done and the fruit flavors do not compete with each other or any spice flavors. Elegant and well layered. Perfect on its own at a celebration or to pair with good food. Pair with grilled seafood or chicken, salmon, lobster with lemon butter, (Chicken) Caesar Salad, grilled vegetables, and medium to strong cheeses. 94 Points! (Wine Splash).
