Barbanera Campo Grande Rosso
Its hard for me to keep a secret…..especially if we are talking about wine! I came across a wonderful wine from Italy called Barbanera Campo Grande Rosso 2017 and it is driving on all cylinders! It is balanced, complex, flavorful, and extremely approachable. It is a blend of Sangiovese, Primitivo, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon and they work so wonderfully together in this blend. These grapes were all grown in the Tuscan region of Italy so expect a wine that represents the region well in its flavor.
In my glass, a deep ruby red in color. Aromas of red fruit, cherry, smoke, earth, anise, and cedar. Full bodied, smooth, with delicate but noticeable tannins. Abundant flavors of dark cherry, ripe plum, raspberry, earth, pepper, and herbs. A beautiful balance where one flavor does not overpower the others. The second sip brought about more lush red berries, leather, with hints of cranberry and cinnamon leading to a dusty vanilla oak finish. I love these Italian reds that have the rustic styles because they definitely describe the terroir it came from! Full bodied in flavor but not too rich and heavy on the palate makes it adapt well to warm weather foods. Pair with grilled red meats, grilled vegetables, tomato based pastas or pizza, and medium to sharp cheeses. A great food wine at 94 Points! (Wine Splash).
This wine was a steal and priced under $15 when I found it on the Wines Til Sold Out website! Find this wine and more like it at https://wtso.co/2u2wW3U on the WTSO.com site.
