The Prisoner Napa Valley Red Blend 2018
The Prisoner Wine Company has been making savory, eclectic wines consistently for years and the excitement continues for the 2018 Prisoner Red Blend. A blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Charbono…..maybe some of the most unlikely characters to appear in a wine but oh, they sure work well together! These grapes were all sourced from several Napa Valley growers to give the wine making team the ability to choose the best grapes and produce a flavorful, fun, quality wine for us wine loving fans.
In my glass, deep ruby red with violet reflections. Captivating aroma’s of black cherry, fig, plum, vanilla, and cedar. Full bodied in texture, opulent, silky, with noticeable tannins. Rich flavors of ripe black cherry, raspberry, blueberry jam, vanilla, and light pepper spice. This is a red blend with power and many layers! On the second sip, black fruit flavors persisted with notes of dark chocolate and smoke leading to a long, plush, vanilla oak finish. This is a Prisoner you want to “break out” of your wine cellar tonight! A sophisticated and balanced style. Pair with grilled red meats, spicy Mongolian beef, leg of lamb, pasta with tomato sauce, and medium to strong cheeses. 95 Points!
