Torre Zambra “Madia” Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2017

The region of Abruzzo, Italy is located east of Rome and begins near the middle of the country to the Adriatic Sea. The climate is temperate which gives the region the ability to grow many of Italy’s most desirable varietals. And Torre Zambra Vineyards is one of the most historic wineries in Abruzzo with almost 60 years of experience to back that up! This wine is made from 100% Montepulciano grapes which were hand picked to produce the best wines.

In my glass, ruby red in color with beautiful violet reflections. Abundant aroma’s of ripe dark fruit, plum, leather, clove, and spice. Medium to full bodied, firm, but with an easy going style. Vibrant flavors of raspberry, ripe dark cherry, clove, and black pepper. Lively acidity and very approachable! On the second sip, more red fruits were revealed with notes of nutmeg and anise leading to a long, delightful finish. A great wine to enjoy on its own or paired with good food! Pair with roast pork, baked ham, grilled chicken, casseroles, fresh salads, and medium cheeses. 92 Points! (Wine Splash). It is a fantastic wine that is usually under $15 a bottle.
