Blue Rock Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Blue Rock Cab

Alexander Valley in Sonoma County is known for their voluptuous, refined Cabernet Sauvignon’s and this one is no exception! The unique terroir of Alexander Valley is just magical which would inspire a winemaker to put forth their best wines. This Cabernet Sauvignon spent 22 months in 50% new French Oak and 50% in once used barrels. Because there were prior years of drought in Sonoma County, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is more concentrated, lush, and marks this vintage as one of Sonoma’s banner years.

Garnet in color in the glass with a ruby red rim. An alluring nose of dark berries, black cherry, raspberry, cocoa, and exotic spices. Full bodied across the palate, rich and velvety, with wonderful structure! Flavors of lively blackberries, ripe plum, black cherry, blueberry pie, and tobacco. Very seductive yet elegant and I felt the need to “come hither” for more! On the second sip, more fleshy dark fruit came through with hints of dark chocolate and anise leading to a long, graceful finish. This Cab was bursting with flavor but did not overwhelm the palate nor was too intense. A fantastic foodie wine that would pair well with Braised Short Ribs, Beef Tenderloin, roasted chicken or duck, pasta with tomato based sauces, goat cheese and other medium to sharp cheeses. 94 Points and average of $49 a bottle. WineSplashing!!
