Six Sigma Ranch Diamond Mine Cuvee 2013
I love finding amazing wines from wineries that are off my radar or rarely hear anything about! With all the wineries in Napa, Sonoma, and Lake counties in California, it’s very difficult to keep track of all the names, vintages, and changes that happen to each winery. I have heard good things about Six Sigma Ranch Winery and the proof is in the bottle. This 2013 Diamond Mine Cuvee is a blend of 63% Tempranillo, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Syrah which was all grown on the volcanic soils in Lake County, California.
In the glass, deep violet in color and almost inky. Aroma’s of black cherries, dark berries, earth, and sweet bakers spices. Very intoxicating! Full bodied across the palate, velvety, with a medium tannin structure which means a bit of wonderful grippiness. Flavors of rich blackberry, baked plums, anise, and saddle leather exploding over my taste buds! Is it 4th of July because someone just lit some flavor fireworks in my mouth! On the second sip, more dark berry fruit came through with a hint of eucalyptus and a long, spicy oak finish. Fun and flavorful and a wine I can’t wait to revisit in the near future! Pair with grilled red meats, pasta with a tomato sauce, grilled chicken or pork with a spicy bbq sauce, or medium cheeses. 93 Points and only $21 a bottle average.
