Keswick Vineyards Monticello Merlot 2014
**Teaser Note** – This Merlot is out of stock at the winery so this review will only tempt you in many delicious ways and you will eventually have to find a close substitute wine to make your flavor fantasies come true.
Finding amazing Virginia wines that fool your taste buds into thinking you are drinking rich California reds are happening much more often than before! There are many little micro-climates around central Virginia and along the Blue Ridge Mountains that retain heat by day and coolness at night to keep the grapes growing into full richness and maturity. The proof of this lies inside the bottle of this wonderful wine.
In the glass, garnet in color, almost violet. Aroma’s of ripe black plum, dark berry, leather, and baking spices! Full bodied and velvety across the palate with bold, elegant tannins leading the way. Flavors of ripe plum, cassis, earth, and forest floor berries. On the second sip, more dark berry came through with hints of tobacco and oak enhancing the long, hearty finish. Great pairing for beef, pasta with a meat tomato sauce, Eggplant Parmesan, and medium to strong cheeses. Also a great pairing with a dark chocolate truffle for those sweet loving fans! Fantastic Merlot and hoping for a reincarnation in another vintage from Keswick Vineyards sometime soon. Until then, Cheers!
