Celani Family Vineyards Grand Reserve Chardonnay 2012 Napa Valley

img_20161201_172323780I love all the different styles that Chardonnay can be! Through the summer, I enjoy lighter style Chardonnay’s which has less oak and more fruit on the palate. As the weather grows cooler to downright Arctic, I crave the heavier bodied Chardonnay’s with lots of full, rich oak! Which brings me to one of Santa’s favorites, the Celani Family Vineyards Grand Reserve Chardonnay from the North Pole! Ooops, I mean Napa Valley. Great stocking stuffer for the Chardonnay lover in your family (which would be the perfect gift to buy for yourself!).

In the glass, golden straw in color and very clear. Intoxicating aroma’s of grilled pineapple, citrus, praline, and wet flint. Full bodied and very creamy across the palate with an elegant acid structure. Rich tropical fruit flavors layered with ripe pear, citrus, honeysuckle, and vanilla oak. Wonderfully refined and sophisticated! On the second sip, more rich pineapple came through along with baking spices and hazelnut on the long butter oak finish. This is an elegant Creme Brulee in a glass! There is a hint of soft minerality near the finish which adds even more complexity to the flavor profile! This may be a wine for the serious Chardonnay lover but it is very approachable on many levels for the novice. Pair with shellfish, crab and lobster, grilled pork, pasta with a cream sauce, and medium to sharp cheeses. 9 STAR and 95 points! Average of $42 a bottle. WineSplashing!!
