2008 Allegrini Palazzo della Torre
A serious yet fun Italian red which is mostly a blend of Corvina and Rondinella grapes. On the nose, hints of tart cherry and anise. Intense cranberry red in color but with flavors bursting with ripe dark fruits and juicy blackberry. As the wine opened up, flavors of black cherry emerged with spicy mocha and herbs! A long, elegant finish balanced by refined tannins and rich texture. Delicious! Pair with roasted or grilled red meats, pasta’s with a spicy tomato sauce, salami, and medium to sharp cheese. Wine Spectator rated this wine at 90 points and I agree wholeheartedly. Well, maybe a 91 point score is in order. WineSplashing!!
I’ve had it a while back and thought it was pretty good.
