Wine Splash!

Concannon wines are always a family favorite and the quality is always there. Received the Captain Joe’s Petite Sirah as a gift and have been looking forward to popping it open…. which was tonight! On the nose, scents of mint, dark berry, and petrol. Medium to full bodied, soft on the palate, with a nice velvety consistency. Flavors of blackberry, ripe blueberry, and herbs. Long, juicy finish that shows even more dark berry and brambly tones. We had this great wine with a pork roast cooked in a crock pot with a barbeque rub and it paired perfectly! It would also pair well with medium to strong cheeses, roast beef, pasta with tomato meat sauce, or lamb.

This is a serious, flavorful wine that is great with food or on its own. We give this 2006 Concannon Vineyard Captain Joe’s Petite Sirah 89pts and love its generous fruit and complex layers. Excite your palate, leave the mundane and give this wine a try!
